DNS Flaw Being 'Weaponized in the Field'

Security guru Dan Kaminsky is warning that the Domain Name System flaw he discovered is now being "weaponized out in the field."

 

BBC News reports there is anecdotal evidence that hackers have launched small-scale attacks using the code that was accidentally leaked earlier this week in a Matasano company blog.

 

According to The Washington Post, the code has been folded into a popular hacker tool called Metasploit. Kaminsky says, "This is a big deal," and urges everyone to patch now, according to an Agence France Presse story on IOL.

 

Kaminsky had been quietly working with vendors to ready a patch before he disclosed details of the flaw at the Black Hat conference. Guess that wasn't in the cards ...
