According to Freep.com, two security breaches have put the personal medical information of an estimated 10,000 Detroit citizens at risk.
The first theft occurred in October when a flash drive was taken from the vehicle of of a health department employee. The drive contained birth certificate information from babies born in 2008 and the first half of 2009, reports The Detroit News.
The second incident involved the theft of five desktop computers from a health department immunization program office, one of which contained billing information from Medicare and Medicaid recipients of the flu vaccine.
