Companies Fear Internal Threat Over External, Survey Shows

According to a survey by IDC, only 15 percent of companies believed they could lose data to outside hacker, while three times as many thought a breach by employees would be the most likely cause of a data breach, reports V3.co.uk. However, respondents did admit an outside breach would cause the most damage.

 

Of the 400 companies surveyed, 54 percent said the most likely security incidents would be PC theft or loss, followed by spam attacks, misuse or hacking and spying tools. Respondents believed intellectual propert was the most likely information to be lost.
