Cisco Adds DLP to Network Security Arsenal

Posted by Kara Reeder Jun 25, 2009 10:13:25 AM

Thanks to a partnership with EMC's RSA security division, Cisco plans to integrate data loss prevention technology into some of its IronPort e-mail security appliances by the fall, reports eWEEK.

According to V3.co.uk, the IronPort C660 Email Security Appliance, which will be targeted toward large enterprises, will allow administrators to set multiple policies to govern the use of e-mail and prevent internal data leaks. The IronPort S660 addresses Web security, enforcing policy for Web services such as social networking sites, blog services and FTP channels.

Cisco also has plans to offer a Data Loss Prevention Risk Assessment Service. This service will review and assess a company's network security and data protection and offer suggestions for improvement.

Computerworld notes that for a 10,000-user company, the Cisco IronPort S-Series for Data Loss Prevention will run $14.12 per user per year.
