Barracuda Puts Spam at 95 Percent in 2009

Posted by Kara Reeder Dec 18, 2008 10:33:06 AM

Barracuda Networks is forecasting that spam volumes will rise to more than 95 percent of all e-mail in 2009, reports vnunet.com.

The prediction seems to fall in line with a Cisco report that 90 percent of all e-mail in 2008 was spam.

Barracuda says the growing use of botnets could even push spam levels over the 95 percent mark next year. Sys-Con.com notes that another contributing factor is spam coming from countries previously not known for sending spam, like Brazil.
