AVG: Users in Russia, Turkey at Greatest Risk of Attack

Kara Reeder

According to a report by security firm AVG, users in Turkey and Russia face the greatest risk of online attacks. V3.co.uk says the report found that one in 10 of its Turkish users had been the victim of an attack attempt this year, while one in every 14 Russian users had been attacked.

Third on the list is Armenia, followed by Azerbaijan and Bangladesh. Among the safest countries are Japan, Taiwan, Argentina and France. AVG chief research officer Roger Thompson warns:

If you are going online in one of those countries in an internet cafe or some place where you don't know whether data is being sniffed, you should be particularly careful.
