Analyst Finds Three Flaws in Google Docs

Posted by Kara Reeder Mar 30, 2009 11:04:34 AM

Security analyst Ade Barkah says he's found three flaws in Google Docs that could expose private information.

According to Reuters, one flaw allows images to be accessed even if a document is deleted or the sharing rights have been revoked. The second allows users to see all versions of a modified image. Barkah is not releasing information on the third flaw, but it seems to allow people to continue to access someone's Google Docs even if access rights have been changed.

Earlier this month, the Electronic Privacy Information Center asked the FTC to stop Google from offering online services that collect data until the agency can verify the presence of adequate privacy safeguards.

Google is downplaying the issues, reports eWEEK. Google says it is investigating the issues raised by Barkah, but does not believe the issues represent a serious threat to users.
