Adobe Warns of Critical Vulnerability in Reader

Posted by Kara Reeder Apr 29, 2009 9:28:45 AM

Adobe has admitted that a newly discovered vulnerability in Adobe Reader affects all currently supported shipping versions of the PDF reader for Windows, Macintosh and UNIX platforms, reports CNET News. The vulnerability also affects Acrobat, notes eWEEK.

The vulnerability seems to be related to an error in the "getAnnots()" JavaScript function and could allow an attacker to remotely execute code on the machine. Until the company releases updates, security experts are recommending that people disable JavaScript in Adobe Reader.
