Verizon Droid Hits the Streets

Posted by Ainsley Jones Nov 6, 2009 4:33:49 PM

Verizon Droid launched today and the buzz has been somewhat subdued, says Network World. A Boston area Verizon store manager said that while general interest in the device has been solid, it hasn't approached the level of other smartphones in recent memory, like the BlackBerry Storm.

According to Top Tech News, Motorola has high hopes for Droid and is hoping the smartphone can help reverse its recent slide. The fact that Verizon will allow tethering on the Droid should help ramp up further interest. However, the price of tethering will be steep. Verizon plans to charge an additional $30 per month for the priviledge, PC World reports.
