T-Mobile to Launch Multiple Android Devices from Multiple Manufacturers

Ainsley Jones

T-Mobile USA has already released an Android-powered smartphone from HTC. Now the company is looking to expand its partnership base for handsets that run on Google's mobile operating system, reports FierceWireless.

T-Mobile Chief Technology Officer Cole Brodman did not reveal the other two partners in speaking with Om Malik of GigaOm, but the carrier intends to release Android devices from three partners in 2009. The company already has plans to launch the HTC Magic later this year.

Given Strategy Analytics' prediction that Android shipments will increase 900 percent this year, T-Mobile is making a wise move in positioning itself as the country's friendliest Android carrier.
