T-Mobile Identifies Outage Culprit

Posted by Ainsley Jones Nov 5, 2009 9:20:19 AM

T-Mobile USA blamed a software error for a network outage that affected voice and data services for about 5 percent of its customers on Tuesday. Regarding the outage, T-Mobile released the following statement:

After investigating the cause, we have determined that a backend system software error had generated abnormal congestion on the network. T-Mobile has since implemented additional measures to help prevent this from happening in the future. We again apologize to those customers who were affected and may have been inconvenienced.

T-Mobile has recommended that customers still experiencing problems power off their phones to resolve lingering issues, but some customers complained that this did not do the trick, reports PC Magazine.
