Orange to Offer iPhone Beginning Nov. 10

Posted by Ainsley Jones Nov 2, 2009 8:42:09 AM

Orange confirmed that it will start selling the Apple iPhone in the UK beginning Nov. 10, bringing an end to the two-year exclusive contract held by Telefonica's O2 mobile network. A week from tomorrow, customers will be able to purchase an iPhone from Orange retail stores, Orange online, The Carphone Warehouse, Phones4U and select independent retailers, Gnews reports.

Consumers hoping for an iPhone price war will be disappointed, according to Recombu Mobile Phones. Orange's price plan for the iPhone is very similar to that of O2's. A 32GB iPhone 3G S on Orange will cost £175 (US$286) if a subscriber pays £34.26 ($56) a month for 24 months. The same phone on O2 costs users £175.19($286.51) if they pay £34.26 a month for 24 months.

Vodafone will also offer the iPhone in the UK, but hasn't announced the price and availability as of yet.
