Nokia N900 Could Change the Smartphone Game

Posted by Ainsley Jones Nov 4, 2009 2:40:36 PM

Nokia has positioned the N900 as a handheld computer with phone functionalities, reports Michael Hinkins over at our CTO Edge site. The smartphone comes equipped with a 600MHz processor and runs Maemo, a Linux-based operating system. The device also features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 5-megapixel digital camera, a 3.5-inch touchscreen and includes 1GB of application memory along with 32GB of storage via a microSD card.

The N900 will be available later this month on an undisclosed carrier. Nokia is looking for its forthcoming device to be a game changer, and analysts seem to believe it will be, says Telegraph.co.uk. CSS Insight analyst Geoff Blaber says the phone's emphasis on multitasking and visuals will draw interest from Apple's iPhone engineers.
