Microsoft Office Web Apps to Include Mobile Browser Support

Ainsley Jones

Last week, Microsoft and Nokia announced that Microsoft's forthcoming suite of online Web applications will support mobile phones, including Symbian handsets. Microsoft released the following statement regarding Office Web applications' support of mobile devices:

"Yes, mobile browsers will be supported for Office Web applications. We are still in early phases of development and will share additional details around specific browsers and functionality at a later date."

According to MobileBurn, such support will enable users to edit Office documents in the cloud from a Web browser. Microsoft is expected to reveal further details in the near future. The move puts the ball in Google's court, as its Google Apps currently offers limited mobile browser support, notes Boy Genius Report.
