Kaufman Bros. Analyst Expects Two New iPhones

Posted by Ainsley Jones Apr 9, 2009 1:58:41 PM

Kaufman Bros. analyst Shaw Wu joins Ben Reitzes of Barclays Capital in suggesting that Apple will unleash two iPhones this summer.

According to Fortune, Wu believes one of the iPhones will have a longer battery life and a powerful processor, while the other will be a scaled-down junior iPhone. In addition, Wu predicts that Apple plans to build 5 million to 6 million phones to be released in  June or July.

Apple's fiscal third quarter could hinge on the phones' release, says Wu. A July release would more than likely temper sales as folks await the new devices. Further, the analyst suspects AT&T will shy from its $30-a-month unlimited data plan in favor of tiered data plans, reports Fierce Wireless.

Add in Apple's introduction of iPhone OS 3.0 and AT&T selling contract-free iPhones to the speculation and you have some interesting food for thought.
