HSPA Provided 11.6 Percent of Europe's PC Broadband in 2008

According to Berg Insight, HSPA accounted for 11.6 percent of all broadband connections in Europe last year. The year-on-year growth of Europeans connecting their PCs to the Internet via HSPA between the end of 2007 and 2008 was 75 percent, reports Mobile Burn. The number of Europeans connecting to the Internet by way of HSPA is expected to climb from 14.6 million to 70 million over the next five years.


Those numbers can be contrasted with 4.5 percent of North Americans connecting to the Web using mobile broadband technologies. According to The Washington Post, 35 million North American subscribers are expected use HSPA/LTE to connect their PCs to the Internet by 2014.
