Facebook Is Most Popular Smartphone App

Ainsley Jones

A report compiled by Nielsen Wire found that Facebook, despite all its privacy issues, is the most popular smartphone application. Facebook dominated all smartphone platforms with the exception of Android, where Google Maps was the most widely used application, ITProPortal.com reports.

Facebook ranked second among Android smartphone owners and Google Maps ranked second or third on all other platforms, making the two mobile applications the most used across all platforms, according to Metro.co.uk. Despite the dominance of Facebook and Google Maps, gaming was far and away the most popular mobile app category with 65 percent of smartphone owners having downloaded a game.
