Bluetooth 4.0 Being Finalized

Ainsley Jones

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group, responsible for developing the Bluetooth standard, stated this week that Bluetooth 4.0 is ready for release and is being finalized. The group hasn't given any specifics on the exact release date of Bluetooth 4.0, says DeviceMAG.

The new standard essentially combines classic Bluetooth wireless, high-speed Bluetooth and new Bluetooth low-energy. The different attributes will be able to be combined to suit whichever product in which they are used. Manufacturers also will be able to tweak the range up to 200 feet when designing a Bluetooth 4.0-equipped device, according to Electricpig.
