Android Gingerbread Due in Q4 2010

Ainsley Jones

Android Gingerbread, Google's follow up to FroYo, which is expected to be officially announced today, is scheduled to be released in the fourth quarter. No features of Android Gingerbread have been detailed yet.

The news comes via a FAQ for Google's WebM, an open source, royalty-free online standard targeted at the brewing HTML5 video format wars, says MobileBurn. It's unknown what number will be assigned to Gingerbread, according to Fone Arena. Reports indicate that it could be either 2.3 or 3.0.
