Alcatel-Lucent Reports First Live LTE Data Call

Alcatel-Luctent announced the completion of the first data call on a live LTE network. The call was carried out on the 800MHz European Digital Dividend spectrum band at Alcatel-Lucent's research center in Stuggart, Germany. According to the company, the call included the transmission of high-definition video streaming using Alcatel-Lucent's commercial infrastructure platforms and prototype mobile devices, Softpedia reports.

 

In a statement, the company's Ken Wirth said:

Our goal is to quickly and effectively support operators in their plans to further enhance the availability of broadband services all over the region, so we adapted our LTE solution to the 800MHz frequency band quite early on and we are now working with customers on field trials.

The 800MHz spectrum is expected to be auctioned off in Europe during the second quarter of 2010, according to The Inquirer.
