Yahoo Rightly Messes with a Classic

Posted by Ainsley Jones Jan 30, 2009 12:56:38 PM

Users of the classic version of Yahoo Mail are being granted the gift of gab, reports Internetnews.

The company has begun rolling out integrated instant messaging and SMS text messaging to its users. The rollout will take a few months to complete given the millions of users of the service. WebProNews calls the move a smart one, citing an increase in competition and similar services from competitors like Google.

Mail classic users will have the option of making themselves invisible while being able to monitor their online contacts. In addition, the new chat feature will allow contacts to be reached via their mobile phones.
