XP: This Is the End

Ainsley Jones

Despite some valiant efforts, today marks the beginning of the end for Windows XP.

Microsoft is ceasing sales of its operating system to retailers and leading computer manufactuers, reports the Associated Press. When the current crop of XP-based PCs are sold, customers will have to buy a Vista machine. Dell customers will have the limited option to downgrade their Vista PCs to XP for $50.

Microsoft will continue to support the popular XP operating system through 2014.
