Vonage Connects Facebook Friends

Ainsley Jones

Vonage has released a mobile application for Android and iPhone users that allows Facebook friends to phone one another for free. The mobile app provides free VoIP calls over a 3G wireless network or Wi-Fi provided both parties have the Vonage App for Facebook on their respective phones, says GigaOM.

Rather than a standalone application, Vonage is leveraging Facebook, which recently surpassed the 500 million user mark. Users need not pay for the app nor be Vonage subscribers to take advantage of Vonage Mobile for Facebook, according to Fortune. Vonage already has plans for its app to be compatible Apple's iPad, RIM's BlackBerry platform and traditional computers.
