Verizon Launches Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot

Ainsley Jones

Verizon recently unveiled a portable Wi-Fi hotspot with built-in mobile broadband that can connect up to five devices to the Internet, reports InformationWeek. Verizon's MiFi 2200 Intelligent Mobile Hotspot measures in at 3.5 by 2.3 by .4 inches and weighs just over two ounces, making it highly portable for mobile workers.

According to Brighthand, the device will go on sale May 17 and will cost $100 with a service contract and mail-in rebate. Verizon users will have the option of selecting from a $40 per month plan with 250 MB of data transfers, or a $60 per month plan with 5 GB of data. Users that buy the device at full price can connect to Verizon's high-speed 3G network for $15 a day.
