Ainsley Jones

SGI announced the first Rackable x86 servers that support both on-board Quad Data Rate 40Gb Infiniband and 10Gb Ethernet connections. The systems are designed to appeal to businesses that run high-performance computing environments, reports V3.

The servers, which are available immediately, are powered by Intel 's Xeon 5500 series Nehalem processors. The new Rackable servers are the first solution offered by the company since the finalization of Rackable's purchase and assumption of the SGI brand, says eWeek.
