Roadrunner Retains Supercomputer Crown

Cray's XT Jaguar high-performance computer system at Oak Ridge National Laboratory came close, but couldn't topple IBM's Roadrunner from the top spot of the Top 500 Supercomputer list, reports eWEEK.

The Department of Energy said last week the revamped Jaguar had the potential to reach 1.46 petaflops; it reached only for the test. Meanwhile, the Roadrunner improved from last year, when it took the crown at 1.02 petaflops.
