Retrofitting Your Way to a Greener Data Center

Posted by Ainsley Jones Jul 3, 2008 12:28:01 PM

Companies don't have to start from the ground up to make their data centers more environmentally friendly. New research from Accenture reveals that there is only a 5 percent difference in infrastructure efficiency between new data centers using cutting edge efficiency recommendations and older data centers that have been retrofitted to meet efficieny recommendations, reports EcoGeek.

According to GreenerComputing, widespread adoption of recommended best practices could reduce carbon emissions the equivalent of taking 8 million vehicles off the road and reduce energy consumption by 55 percent.

This should be music to the ears of organizations dealing with the expected doubling of data centers over the next four years and could serve as a catalyst for businesses to go from talking about green data centers to having green data centers.
