Nokia Introduces LTE Modem

Nokia launched its first modem based on Long-Term Evolution (LTE) technology. The Nokia Internet Modem RD-3 is interoperable with GSM/EDGE, WCDMA/HSPA and supports several frequency bands of LTE. The Finnish company is targeting networking vendors, measurement equipment manufacturers and operators with its RD-3, Betanews reports.

 

Boasting a maximum download rate of 160Mbps, the modem has been used in industry trials, says iTWire. The first LTE-capable networks are expected to be rolled out beore the end of 2010.
