Netbook Sales Continue to Grow

Ainsley Jones

Netbooks accounted for nearly 20 percent of PC sales in the first quarter of the year. According to analyst firm DisplaySearch, netbooks will grow to 20 percent of the market by the end of 2009 while notebook sales remain flat. Penetration is expected to be significant in European, Middle Eastern, Asian and North American markets, says Twice.

DisplaySearch says the growth of netbooks is not hurting notebooks, reports TG Daily. Consumers are largely purchasing netbooks as a secondary device. The flatness of the notebook market is largely due to the tightened purse strings of enterprise organizations; notebooks shall go as the economy does.
