Mozilla Disperses Prism Beta

Ainsley Jones

Mozilla Labs borrowed from Google Chrome with the unveiling of Prism, the beta of a Firefox extension that turns any Web site into a desktop application. Like Google Chrome's create applications shortcut, Prism allows users to convert the data from a Web site into a desktop application, PC World reports.

According to The Register, Prism builds on Chrome's functionality. Prism includes tray icon support, automatic updates and application-specific settings. The beta supports both Mac and Windows platforms.
