'Moonlight' Beta Near

Microsoft and Novell have announced that a beta version of Moonlight, a Firefox add-on that allows Silverlight content to play on Linux PCs, will be out within days.

The add-on should help Silverlight catch up to Adobe's Flash, which already works on Linux, reports CNET's Ina Fried. Both work on Macs.

But Silverlight has struck out with Major League Baseballhttp://voices.washingtonpost.com/fasterforward/2008/11/microsofts_silverlight_strikes.html, according to Rob Pegararo at The Washington Post. Just 15 months after switching its video clips to Silverlight, the league announced it's switching to Flash.
