Huawei and Vodafone Develop Base Station for Rural Markets

Huawei and Vodafone have jointly developed EasyGSM BTS, a 2G base station designed to provide access to rural areas in emerging economies. Initially tested in South Africa, EasyGSM BTS promises a low-cost wireless coverage solution that is easy to install and can be utilized through solar power alone, reports Rethink Wireless.


Vodafone is currently reviewing commercial options for the base station, according to Unstrung.
