Green Grid Offers Free Tool for Data Center Cooling

Posted by Ainsley Jones Apr 13, 2009 12:01:48 PM

The Green Grid has launched a new tool that makes it easier for an organization to establish how much energy and money it can save by using outside air and water to cool data centers. The tool will initially be offered in North America with an expanded rollout to occur later.

According to vnunet, the free tool uses a data center's ZIP code, IT load and facility load to determine how much energy can be saved by using outside air to cool the facility. In addition, the tool can be used to determine the savings that would be generated by using water-side economizers, reports Web Host Industry Review.
