Flickr Announces Geo-Based Searching

Flickr, Yahoo's online photo-sharing site, is launching photo-mapping features that make it easier for users to find pictures based on location, according to a Reuters story in The Washington Post.


On its site,, its "Places" feature identifies global hot-spots for the latest photo contributions. Users also can search by more than 100,000 geographic place names or by theme.


The site carries more than 30 million public geo-tagged photos, reports Pocket-lint.
