Firefox Market Share Drops, IE Makes Gains

Ainsley Jones

For the third month in row, Firefox has lost market share against Google's Chrome, according to NetMarketShare. Firefox lost 0.9 percent to dip just below 23 percent in July. Meanwhile, Microsoft's Internet Explorer share rose 0.42 percent to 60.74 percent, its second consecutive month of gains, notes ZDNet.

Both Chrome and Firefox gave up a small percentage of their July market share to counterbalance IE's gains, according to PCMag.com. Despite its recent gains, IE is still down 5 points from where it stood in September 2009.
