On the heels of Sprint's recent deal with LightSquared, Clearwire has confirmed it has intentions of deploying a TD-LTE network alongside its WiMax network. The build-out will be contingent on Clearwire raising additional capital, as the company, which Sprint owns nearly half of, has consistently lost money over the last three years, reports NetworkWorld.
It's estimated that Clearwire will need to raise $600 million to build out an LTE network in its existing markets with the heaviest usage. While the company lacks cash, it does not lack spectrum, notes TechNewsWorld. Clearwire has more than enough to support LTE, which it put into trial last quarter, in addition to WiMax.
