Blackberry Outage Hits U.S. Carriers

Research in Motion said no messages were lost during an outage Monday that left users in North America without access to their Blackberry e-mail service, according to Computerworld.

 

Users on all U.S. carriers were affected from about 3:30 p.m. to 6:50 p.m. EST, though it's not clear all users were affected, reports The Washington Post. Phone service worked normally during the e-mail outage.

 

According to ZDNet blogger Russell Shaw, one of two IP addresses to the RIM network was refusing connections.

 

A similar outage took place last April, raising further questions about the service's reliability.
