AT&T Enters Strategic Partnership with Jasper Wireless

Ainsley Jones

AT&T has entered into an exclusive partnership with Jasper Wireless. It's a move that the carrier hopes will bolster its 3G network by leveraging Jasper's wireless platform to accelerate market entry for new categories of embedded wireless devices that connect to it, reports the San Antonio Business Journal.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it shows a shift in focus of AT&T's energy on its networks and less on the Apple iPhone. According to FierceWireless, the partnership with Jasper will dramatically reduce AT&T total cost of ownership of connected devices, which should provide a significant bump to the company's average revenue per user.
