AT&T 3G Buildout Hurting 2G Phone Service?

Susan Hall

The blog Open for Business is reporting that AT&T is sacrificing 2G signal strength to build out its 3G network.

Apple's original and costly iPhone, BlackBerry and RAZR models are among the phones affected by the company's switch from primarily the 850 MHz band to the weaker 1900 MHz band in some areas. The blog says it tested various phones in St. Louis and gathered information on problems in other areas.

It says the company's solution to this problem is to recommend that customers buy a new 3G phone.
