Anybots Unveils Telepresence Robot

Ainsley Jones

Anybots Inc. of Mountain View, Calif., introducted QB, a robotic stand-in for people in remote locations to have a rich telecommunications experience without having to invest in an expensive teleconferencing system, CNET News reports. QB, which due out in the fall for $15,000, features an embedded video camera and video screen in its "head" and has wheels that can be steered remotely via Wi-Fi.

Anybots is targeting retailers and other service-oriented companies with the 35-pound QB, says SFGate. Essentially a laptop on top of a Segway, QB can serve as virtual eyes and ears for someone needing to attend a meeting or can act as a receptionist or security sentry.
