Alcatel-Lucent Opening Up GPON to Third-Party Vendors

Ainsley Jones

Alcatel-Lucent announced it will publish version 1 of its OMCI Interoperability Implementer's Guide to aid the creation of a multi-vendor gigabit passive optical networking infrastructure. The guide will enable optical network terminal vendors in integrating their networks with Alcatel-Lucent's, V3.co.uk reports.

Alcatel-Lucent believes more interoperability will lead to faster time to market, increased competition and lower prices, says iTWire.
