National Cyber Incident Response Plan in the Works

Posted by Kara Reeder Nov 18, 2009 9:35:11 AM

In testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee, some of the federal government's top cyber security authorities discussed plans to improve cyber defenses, including a new comprehensive National Cyber Incident Response Plan, reports InformationWeek.

The goal of the plan is to  provide federal agencies, state and local governments, and the private sector with clear roles and responsibilities in the event of a major attack. Philip Reitinger, deputy under secretary of the national protection and programs directorate and director of the National Cyber Security Center at the Department of Homeland Security, says the plan should be completed by December or January.
