Health and Human Services Department Awards Health Information Grant

Posted by Kara Reeder Sep 2, 2009 11:19:59 AM

The American Health Information Management Association Foundation has been awarded a $1.2 million contract by the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services to continue the state-level Health Information Exchange Consensus Project, according to InformationWeek. The funding will go toward assisting states as they adopt, plan and deploy health information exchanges.

Almost every state has health information exchange work under way. The grant will provide technical assistance and guidance to states as they pursue their health information exchange endeavors, says Lynne Dierker, a project director at AHIMA Foundation.
