Tessera Wins Patent Dispute

Kara Reeder

Tessera Technologies Inc. has won a patent dispute over small-format semiconductor packaging products.

According to an Associated Press article on Newsvine.com, the International Trade Commission has issued a cease-and-desist order against Motorola, Qualcomm, Freescale Semiconductor and Spansion. The companies cannot sell any of their inventory that infringes on the patents.

Qualcomm says it has already shifted the U.S. supply of the chips in question to another supplier, so it can "continue to supply the U.S. market without interruption."
