Oracle Buys 3D Retail Software Maker

Susan Hall

Oracle is buying Advanced Visual Technology, which makes 3D space-planning software for retailers, reports CNET News. The price was not disclosed.

Its Retail Focus product helps retailers plan store floors and shelf space. The add-on Retail Focus Merchandiser puts those designs in 3D and allows users to walk through them virtually. The software is to be combined with the Oracle Retail application suite.

ATV has been a longtime partner with Oracle, but also SAP, Microsoft and computer-aided design vendor AudoDesk, reports Network World. It's not clear whether those partnerships will continue.
