Motorola to Cut 400 More Employees

Posted by Kara Reeder Jan 2, 2009 12:03:54 PM

Motorola plans to lay off 400 more employees in the fourth-quarter than it originally planned, reports Reuters in a story in InformationWeek. The cuts, which will bump up its charges to $189 million, primarily will come from the mobile devices segment.

In October, Motorola announced it would lay off 3,000 workers. The company also has announced plans to freeze contributions to employees' 401(k) plans, cease some pay increases and decrease the salary of its top two executives as part of its cost-reduction plan.
