Internet Language Set to Change

Posted by Kara Reeder Oct 27, 2009 9:39:34 AM

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers is expected to review the proposal to allow the use of non-Latin characters in the entire address, reports CNET News. The proposal will allow the suffix to be expressed in 17 other alphabets, including traditional and simplified Chinese characters, Russian Cyrillic, Korean Hangul and Hebrew, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Applications for the new Internationalized Domain Names could be accepted as early as next month, notes Techtree.com.
