Google Agrees to Delete Images in German Street View

Kara Reeder

Google says it will delete some of the original, unblurred images on its German Street View service, reports Computerworld. In addition, the search giant says it will delete images of homes if asked in advance of publication. This is a departure from its policy in other countries where it will only delete images if it receives a complaint after they have been published.

Hamburg's Data Protection Office says it is pleased with the decision. Google was facing fines if it did not come to some sort of agreement with the German agency.
