Et tu, Novell? Microsoft's Partner Distances Itself

Posted by Michael Lindenberger May 16, 2007 11:13:55 AM

After Microsoft's claims that Linux and other open source programs violate more than 200 of its patents, Novell is quickly "distancing itself" from the software giant, according to a Top Tech News article.

The story quotes a company blog in which Novell reiterates its position that neither Linux nor any of its offerings violates anyone's patents, let alone Microsoft's. Novell also reminds the open source community that it did not agree or admit to any patent violations when negotiating its current collaboration agreement with Redmond.

Guess that puts to rest any rumblings of a Microsoft-Novell conspiracy to get the best of Red Hat. Or does it?
