EMI Staying with IFPI, Slashing Funding

After consideration, record label EMI has decided to remain with the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). It's an agreement that will cost the IFPI, says Ars Technica. EMI will continue to contribute to the IFPI's operations, but EMI and other labels will cut funding of the group's antipiracy efforts.


While the change in funding will not directly affect the RIAA's legal efforts in the near term, it could serve as a precedent for EMI's dealings with national trade groups.
